The OHA was among the earliest crusaders who urged
show giving clubs to provide emergency medical equipment and personnel at
all shows and has persistently encouraged clubs to offer Junior
Showmanship class. Every year at the Westminster Kennel Club, the OHA
presents awards to the 10 top OHA Junior Handlers. The OHA is a vital
group active in all areas of the fancy and interested in any innovation
which may increase the enjoyment of purebred dogs as well as an
educational forum.
Membership is open to all persons who are in good standing with Kennel
Clubs and who subscribe to the purposes of the OHA.
Chapters are formed
in many areas and interest in the OHA is growing constantly. The chapters
hold training classes, educational programs and symposia to benefit the
fancier and the community.
Any group of 15
eligible members may form a chapter of the Association with the approval
of the OHA Board of Governors. Contact OHA's Chapter Coordinator for
further information.
OHA publishes a
newsletter, the Advocate, which is sent to all members. The
Advocate covers what is going on in the organization and prints
articles of general interest to the fancy.
