REINTRODUCTION!!
The Defenders of Wildlife
will fight all the way to the Supreme Court a ruling on December
12th by a federal judge that wolves were reintroduced illegally
in Yellowstone National Park and central Idaho and must be
removed. USAWA is helping in this effort.
Judge William Downes of the U.S. District Court in Cheyenne,
Wyoming, ruled that the "reintroduced nonnative wolves and
their offspring" must be removed from the reintroduction
area, although he stayed the order pending an expected appeal.
The ruling is tantamount to a death sentence for these
magnificent animals. Please post this where people can sign the
petition below and send it to:

Dear Secretary Babbitt,
We, the undersigned, respectfully urge you to use your authority
as Secretary of the Interior to keep the wolves in Yellowstone
National Park safe from harm.
As you know, a federal judge has just ruled that these wolves must be removed from Yellowstone Park, but because Canadian authorities will not accept them, the wolves would have to be destroyed.
Please do not let one bad court ruling destroy our nation's greatest wildlife conservation achievement. After two decades of hard work, public hearings, incredible success, and massive public support, it would be a tragedy to see this great accomplishment reversed.
We strongly urge you to
maintain your commitment to the wolves in Yellowstone National
Park.
