USAWA OBEDIENCE STANDARDS

    GENERAL   REQUIREMENTS

Any animal can enter the obedience competition, and their animals do not have to be registered to enter. These animals are able to win places with a trophy or ribbons, but they will not receive the USAWA CD Title until they have been registered with USAWA. Qualifying scores from non-registered animals will be kept on file by USAWA and will be added towards earning the title when they are registered.

Only animals that are registered with USAWA can earn qualifying scores to add the USAWA"CD" title to the name of the animal using these official rules at sanctioned shows. The official rules to be used are announced in the Edelwolf publication. All earned titles will be kept on record and will be submitted in writing to the Registrar of USAWA to legally have the initials, "CD" added after its name. When applying to enter competition on the application form to earn the "CD", you will need your animal's registration number and your membership ID number. Those who wish to compete for just a place in Obedience competition who have non-registered animals, only need to leave their name, Membership number, and address.

Members may request in writing, a summary of their animal's obedience record. Animals qualified to receive their USAWA "CD" title will have their owners notified in writing after they acquire their last qualifying score. An official USAWA CD Obedience Certificate will be sent to the recipient, suitable for framing.

1.) An Animal must earn three (3) qualifying scores at three (3) separate sanctioned USAWA shows before a "CD" title is issued.

2.) A qualifying score of 170 points or greater with no disqualification. A disqualification is an attempt to bite or an attack any person or animal, or causing disturbances to other animals in the class.

NOTE: Handlers may practice with their animals inside the ring, as long as it is not disturbing another activity at the same time. An owner showing more than one animal will need a separate handler for the sit and down exercises.
